It will be fine if there is little wrong with device. I suggest you to sign off from iPad app, and sign in again at same time. If you think there is other issues, I will definitely go to Best Buy.

Plug your charging cable into the USB port and insert your tracker into the charging cable. Insert a paperclip into the small pinhole on the back of the charger. Press on the pinhole for 3-4 seconds.

Fitbit also has a help line if you are having problems doing.it I would call them first since it is their product they will know more about it them Best Buy employees will.
