The bottom line is NO. 1. Its designed for Windows 10 with DirectX12 support 2. It uses a lot of CPU, GPU and RAM (which most Win8 & Win8.1 systems did not and can not have or support) 3. If your looking at buying a $120 game, and your still running Windows 8, then its time to readjust your priorities. Im not trying to be mean but i am running a i9-9900KS at 5.1GHz, on a high end Z390 motherboard with 128GB (4x 32GB) of RAM, a 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus for a boot drive and 162 Terabytes of Hard Disk Drive Storage in a full tower case and several external drives which i use for backup, a Corsair AX1500i 1500 WATT PSU, Corsair Ironclaw 18,000 DPI Mouse, Rii K61c Mechanical Keyboard. and my main 3 screens are 23" ASUS LCDs at a lowly 75 Hertz making up a 5760 x 1080 panoramic landscape screen and then the weak link in my system that i build last year, the GPU. I knew that a series of new GPUs would be coming out in 2020, and i build this system for Christmas 2019, so i am limited by my Radeon RX480 8GB GPU and yes, this runs Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe 2020 but it is missing DLSS, Ray Tracing and other aspects that the game and new graphics cards boast. The problem is, if you haven't noticed, is that a AMD Radeon RX6800XT that is supposed to be a $649.99 graphics card carrying 16GB of GDDR6 memory and 80 Compute Units is not available anywhere, and if you do find one somewhere, like ebay, facebook marketplace, craigslist, etc, its marked up to $1,049 to as much as $1,899 for the real product. It is even worse on the nvidia side as their cards started at an even higher price point and a friend of mine that also has MS Flight Sim 2020 finally got his RTX3090 with 24GB of memory (this card has a MSRP of $1,549 to $1,599) and he waited since November, and PAID $2,279 and he just got the card 2 weeks ago, saturday the 9th of january, so a more then 2 month delay and a $700 premium on the card, so do what you can with your system, and i would recommend these things first, if possible. 1. Upgrade your RAM, have AT LEAST 32GB, 64GB or more is preferrable 2. Upgrade to a 1TB or 2TB Samsung SSD or M.2 Drive for you boot 3. Get Windows 10 Home, Pro or some version, as long as it supports DirectX12 4. Check your graphics card, if you have less then 6GB (i say 6GB because i tried it on another one of my 14 systems at home and the nvidia GPU with 6GB GDDR5 did not want to run it. With that said, my RX480 8GB is a 4 year old card and can be found for around $100-$150 and with the right balance, it will play the game. Also be aware that the game is LARGE; 1. 5.22 GB Installer file 2. 123.57 GB Main Install file 3. 62 GB Update, so keep that in mind as that will take up the better part of a 5th of a Terabyte, and you know there are more updates coming. I am not rich, and i dont have some parents that pay for anything, i budget properly and save, this is how i got my first Porsche, my Mercedes and my Audi A6 Sedan as well as my next Porsche, by budgeting and saving over 30 years, so set a goal and be patient. I hope that helps, it may not be what you want to hear, but i find that the truth, brutal as it may sometimes be, is better then a lie or telling someone that, yes, it can, and then they get mad when it wont run, or if it does run it is not playable.
