Check the "fit" of the machine into the cabinet opening, I had to adjust it a couple times to get it right, since there isn't a 'handle,' but rather a slot, it needs to protrude a little so that you can ensure you close the door all the way by pushing it into place - I don't like it any more than you do - I'd go as far as saying a design flaw.
