Important implication from the manual Because the back is open: - Keep clearance from the wall for ventilation - Do not block airflow around compressor coils - Keep the area clean (dust buildup can affect performance) - Avoid contact with exposed components during cleaning Bottom line ✔ Compressor area: open with partial shielding only ✔ Wiring: exposed but clipped along the rear frame ✔ Drip pan: open access underneath the compressor area ❌ No fully covered sealed back panel - Maico

• A:Answer Not common in my experience. Our last garage ref, also Frigidaire, lasted 35 years and still ran ok when we replaced it. Just the magnet seal on the doors was not holding anymore so the poor thing ran with a door open a crack all the time. And the motor still ran for a while like that.
