• A:Answer Not common in my experience. Our last garage ref, also Frigidaire, lasted 35 years and still ran ok when we replaced it. Just the magnet seal on the doors was not holding anymore so the poor thing ran with a door open a crack all the time. And the motor still ran for a while like that.
