Hello MassConsumer. Built-in microwaves are not designed to vent the same as an over-the range microwave, the do not require outside venting. When installed in a cabinet, it must have a full plywood base able to support 100 lbs. Additionally, a depth cut-out minimum of 20" is required for proper installation of the microwave and the face-plate to fit flush against the cabinet front. ~ Anna
