• Yes, this SSD allows you to backup info either from a PC or MAC. I personally use it to edit on and transfer files because of its read/write speeds.

• You can use this as a backup device but I’d probably recommend a non-solid state drive for a desktop PC. You will get more space for your money. The transfer rate will just be slower. I have a laptop with limited space so I put on my virtual machines on the external ssd. Can’t really tell a difference in speed than if it were directly on my laptop.

• Plenty fast enough if you aren't using a cloud service. It backs up all my working media files - fast access, no problems after 3weeks of heavy use.
