Preorders will open when the device gets approved by the FCC. You can click “Notify Me” for notifications.

Nintendo's website indicates they are awaiting FCC approval before the product can be offered for sale. There is a "Notify Me" button on Best Buy's page, but I would also recommend checking back regularly.

They’re open now. They’re releasing new inventory every few minutes so you have to watch it in the app and when the button says ‘add to cart’ you have to jump on it and check out really fast. I was able to snag a preorder tonight, got one to put with my husband’s Christmas gifts he’s going to be really excited! I just looked again and now the button says Unavailable so I think you’ll have to check every day maybe multiple times a day.

Underneath the coming soon button there is a button that says "notify me" and it will send you a notification when it becomes available. I'm not sure what kind of notification since this is the first time I've used this feature.

Page monitors or purchase bots are your best friend. On the product page on the official Nintendo site, it states "This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained" So until that happens, they can't put it up for sale/pre-order.

On the item page choose the "Notify me" option. If stock maintains you should get an email a little while after it goes live.
