Yes, the pre-loaded maps of Canada and USA can always be updated for free.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a lifetime maps unit, and for a while that was true, then it wasn't. The updates stopped coming and when I inquired about this the company replied that the unit was DEEMED to have a 3 year life. I still have mine and it works fine except no map updates. The company is not very upfront about this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.WARNING: It's is not "Lifetime" updates! Garmin and all other GPS units have an operating system shelf-life. In a couple of years, the mapping system software they use will no longer be compatible with older units and those units will no longer be able to process updates. Garmin will most likely off you a discount on one of their newer units when your stops updating. So, "LifeTime" is not life time, it's until their software stops working with older units. It's all false and a gimmic.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There have been questions about the "lifetime" updates before. If you didn't update within a certain period of time then you lost the ability to update. Very frustrating fine print, not sure if they are still doing that. I prefer WAZE or google maps at this point. Only reason I kept it was because my cell phone charged extra for Canada.
