I had a very old Garmin Nuvi 255W ( I am thinking at least 8 years old) that was still getting updates so I am thinking they are supported fro much longer than one would think. I recently purchased the Drive Smart 52 only because my battery on the Nuvi was shot and I felt it was time for upgrade.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My old Nuvi would not let me update due to not enough storage. I bought a 64 or 32 gb SD card (can't remember which) for $7 and put it into the slot on the side of the Nuvi and it updated. The SD card didn't want to stay in place but works fine with a piece of tape over it. This way I can have the old Garmin in my old car for around town and the new 52 in new car for trips.
