“It states the battery does not last more than 30 minutes. Are we able to plug this GPS into the vehicle (long enough cord hopefully) for a 5 hour trip or longer to continue with directions? And does this GPS work in all 50 States (USA)?”

Battery doesn't last but you can plug into lighter in car and works great.

This model includes preloaded street maps for North America with detailed coverage of the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bahamas.
