I have always found a dedicated GPS much better than a mobile phone, especially in more rural areas. I have used both on long trips and just find the Garmin to do a better job. This leaves my phone to be a phone... Lastly, I have also used Android Auto as well as OEM GPS in my car. I still choose the Garmin for the longer road trips...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had TomTom before and older models of Garmins - I do like the added features in this newer one - Garmin Drive Smart 55. The maps and directions are good- the latest model I get alerts when I got a text - syncs to your cell phone - call come thru GPS to...I think there is a way to undo that, as well. Displays all nearby restaurants, places of interest, easy to use all the features, as well. This particular Garmin is voice activated - convenient when driving - overall Gharmin is a solid brand....I just wish - and this goes for all brands that they would have a longer battery life. Usually after an hour & 20 minutes it konks out and then u have to use charger. Other than that I really do like the Garmin DriveSmart55.

It has several features that are pertinent to me such as red camera light intersections and traffic ahead which then can reroute me to a quicker route if an accident is a head
