• It does not require line of sight as long as it can pick up satellite reception your fine. If it doesn't initially connect put it in your window until it connects then put it back down on your transmission tunnel

• Once it is connected with the satellites it should work anywhere in the car

• Like all GPS devices they need to have line of sight to enough satellite signals. Sometimes heavy cloud cover, buildings, nearby hills or tall trees can affect reception of the satellite signals. I don't understand the term transmission tunnel. I have always placed my GPS devices on the my dash.
