Q: QuestionIs this model registered (not just "Compliant") with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)? Currently there are only two Garmin models registered (GE1l1-IOS and GE1AO1) and neither matches with the model provided on this website.
Asked by DDunn.
- A:Answer This model is registered and compliant with FMCSA. I looked up the model number on the Garmin website and compared it with the model number on the FMCSA. Here are the links if you'd like to take a second look. Also, just FYI the user manuall is also on the second link, FMCSA was kind enough to provide it along with the product website and a contact phone number for Garmin. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/592207 https://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/ELD/List

Q: QuestionI have 5 trucks and 3 drivers and they have flip phones. Does a smartphone have to be present when driving or can I transfer the information at the end of the month from each unit to my smart phone?
Asked by DDS.
- A:Answer The Garmin eLog™ ELD device needs to be connected to a Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone or tablet, sold separately. A cellular data plan is not required to use the Garmin eLog Compliant ELD. You would need to have a smartphone or tablet with built in GPS or Location Services technology. If you are using a smartphone or tablet without cellular data you would need to periodically connect the smartphone or tablet to Wi-Fi to download the latest app and firmware updates.

Q: QuestionI have two trucks and I am the only driver. Can I use it in both trucks or do I have to buy two?
Asked by Goodweiser.
- A:Answer The Garmin eLog system, comprised of the eLog device and the paired smartphone with the eLog app installed, may be moved and installed into a new truck. The Garmin eLog will save the electronic logs from the previous truck, and will record all information going forward from the new truck.
