Q: Does the elog app support Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR)? THANKS

A: No, drivers must use paper post trip inspection reports and certify by signing.

Q: Can this device work on a freightliner cascadia 2012 ?

A: In my Volvo VNL 2013 Garmin ELOG COMPLIANT ELD works good and will work on a freightliner cascadia 2012! Once paid and no more payments!

Q: If you drive your max 11 hrs does this device automatically shut down the truck?

A: No it will not. It will show you are over in hours.

Q: When I log off somebody moves truck when I log in why are those drive hours on my log in and puts me in violation

A: Because your ELD is not programmed right. I had my truck worked on at Council Bluffs, IA last Friday, Saturday, and got it back Sunday at 7:00 pm. The repair shop had to disconnect the device to acces the portal to perform the required repairs. When I reconnected the ELD, it showed 1:50 of driving on Friday, the 12th, then switched to on duty not driving, with short on duty driving while they were moving the truck in and out of the shop, and stayed on duty Saturday, January 13th, until Sunday, January the 14th, when I reconnected it. This violated my 70 hr, 14 hour rule, showed violations for on duty over 8 hours without a 30 minute break, and deprived me of my34 hour restart. All this time it was on duty, I was in a motel room, legally off duty, which I have receipts for. Because of Garmin total lack of support, my only course of action was to reconstruct the logs on paper, certifying them in writing, and not certifying the ELD logs that were totally false. I will be returning this unit to the Best Buy that I purchased it from, and I expect a full refund. Also, I will contact the OOIDA to assist in decertification by the FMCSA of the Garmin ELD device, and use social media to warn other potential purchasers of its faults, keeping my IPad for proof of damages this device has caused. When I purchased the garmin/Dezel, there is pages of instructions to operate the GPS, showing everything you can set up on it, short of making it dance across the dash. The ELD owners manual stops short with check to see if it plugged in properly, that about it. It doesn’t tell the administrator how to fix mistakes, even though it say you can, and requires to certify legal logs. The Garmin ELD device is the one “they warned us about.”

Q: It calculates IFTA miles?

A: No, the Garmin eLog ELD does not calculate or track any of the IFTA miles.

Q: Does this ELD device have an option for both the ELD and AOBRD? Thank you!

A: Good question. The Garmin eLog only offers the ELD option.
