• Yes, if doing an outdoor run and acquiring GPS you do not need your phone to see the data. You will need to have your data fields set properly to read those specific stats if you want to see them during a run. Debbie with Garmin

• I have not tried it. Sorry on another note this watch is awesome. I've had two other brands and right now I will stick to Garmin
