• No, you can sync your data with a computer using the Garmin Express program. You just don't have the ability to get the smart features, but the device will work without being paired to a phone. Debbie with Garmin

• Pretty sure none of the smart watch features won't work without a smarphone. It'll do basic GPS and fitness tracking
