“Does it actually track your runs, for instance show your progress as you run. I run alot of 5ks and would like a watch to show my distance real-time and leave my phone at home.”

Yes. You can have the watch display distance or lap distance consistently. In fact it can display three different lines at once not counting the little circle which is better for something like heart rate.
