No, it wouldn't have worked with the Nuvi 465LMT even when it wasn't discontinued. The Garmin Nuvi 486LMT only works with the GTM 36. If it had worked with the Nuvi 465LMT when it wasn't discontinued, it would continue to work with it even after the 486LMT had been discontinued. Whether a particular model is a current model or one that has been discontinued makes no difference as to what accessories work with it or not.
