• Yes, it does track your miles as well. It doesn't have a GPS, but uses an accelerometer to determine whether you’re walking or running. It doesn't work while bike riding but works well with walking or running.

• I put it in a pocket on my leg got treadmill and eliptical and in spin class n it tracks steps without any additional equipment

• This device does not have GPS, so not really. It will keep track of how many miles walk AND run in a single day (based on steps taken), but it does not have the ability to track a specific run nor does it make allowance for stride length when running versus walking. It simply counts steps.
