Do you have to have it linked to your phone? Can this be used w/o linking to a phone? I would like for my mother to be able to use it during her physical therapy..

No you don't NEED to link it to your phone, you can do it all on the device. Linking it to your phone gives you a lot more detailed info and graphs etc. You can link it to your phone and then use the device without phone(easy) and then later on sync it to your phone. The device has a decent memory.

Pairing the vívofit to your phone is not necessary for it to be used. The benefit of having it paired to your phone is being able to sync your recorded data without the use of a computer. ^DK

I have this tracker linked to my phone and computer, but since steps are displayed on the band itself, that would not be necessary to monitor steps and miles, if that's all you're interested in doing.
