JES1072SHSS is designed for use on the counter. We do not recommend installing in a tight space, like a cabinet. Countertop Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. We suggest 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. Yes, this product is a counter top design that simply plugs in, and can be set into an area as long as there is adequate ventilation room around the unit.
