“I just got a new over the range microwave Model JVM3160RF8SS. When just reheating a cup of coffee for my first try using it, the vent light came on and very slightly vents at the top. Stove not in use? Normal? I tried pressing vent to high-low & off.”

Vent always comes on when in use

We regret that the vent coming on when you reheated your coffee caused some worry, and understand your concern. The vent fan is designed to come on automatically to protect the microwave if it senses too much heat coming from the cooktop; however, it is also normal for the vent icon to light when using a microwave function. This is because the model has a one-fan system so the vent may also work for cooling when only the microwave is being used. We hope this information is helpful!
