• A:Answer Could be excess machine oil in the blower fan motor just burning off, if it doesn't smell like electrical or plastic it may just be temporary while its new. I'd watch it carefully though and make sure it doesn't continue to smoke or get worse over time. Maybe call GE or check if anyone on the internet has posted this problem. Good luck.

Q: QuestionWe are used to touching the screen and this items has a "button". What is the difference? Hard to see but it does not look like any of the descriptions are "raised" as to be a button??? Please explain as we do not want to have to puch a button.

Q: QuestionMilk hot on top and cold at the bottom, is this normal? I just switched to the GE microwave, and it does not heat up drink properly. I did not had this issue with my previous microwave. is it broken? Or is it an expected issue with this specific device?

• A:Answer Microwaves have a "stirrer" which is a spinning metallic plate in the top of the housing that disrupts the microwaves and bounces them around the oven's interior. That and the rotating turntable are supposed to help heat things more or less evenly but sometimes there can be hot or cold spots, try putting the containers you are heating not exactly in the middle of the turntable, if it consistently not heating evenly perhaps the stirrer is not functioning.

• A:Answer Probably not required, but likely recommended, otherwise your vent pipe might over time start to develop odors from things like fish that would be neutralized by the charcoal filter. Check your owners manual to see if it has any recommendations. I just replaced my old internally vented one that didn't even have a charcoal filter installed, never really noticed a problem but did notice a bit of residue from the fan exhaust on the underside of my nearby cabinetry develop over time.

• A:Answer If its the same size, most likely you can. Look at the overall dimensions and see if they are the same, and if they have the same kind of venting. My new GE was manufactured so I could configure the fan output to either outside through the top, outside through the back, or inside venting, just a couple screws and rotate the fan unit inside the housing to fit the kind of install you want to do.

• A:Answer Mine had a little buzzing sound on one side when first installed that I fixed by tightening the mounting bolts and then wedging a bit of foam insulation in between the side and filler panel near where the sound was coming from, sometimes any appliance with a motor will just vibrate like that and anything that dampens that will fix the problem. Also, the blower fan might be running at the high setting, I'd check that. This model does have a fan that runs automatically but I think it has more than one speed.
