“Can the GE 1.6 Over the Range Microwave be run & used on a counter until our kitchen remodel is completed (and it can be installed properly over the range)? Any problems using an "over the range" microwave on a counter top for a while? Thanks.”

• I'm not an expert, but I think setting it on a counter will block the vents causing a potential overheating issue. Maybe place some short 2x4's under either side, just so air will flow underneath. Its not ideal but for a short period during a remodel it should be ok.

• Hi KDP- Countertop use is not an approved installation (safety). It must be mounted to both a top cabinet and a wall. The underside is not flat and would not provide a stable surface. Additionally, there can be a heat issue, especially if the vent fan or surface lights were accidentally turned on. Thanks for choosing GE. Keep in touch! Sue
