JVM3160DFWW - I just bought this model and the exhaust can be either top or rear exit. I replaced a 10 year old Frigidaire unit and the rear exit exhaust matched up without issues. This model did come setup for top exit from the factory, so you have to remove and rotate the exhaust motor and remove 2 metal tabs to accommodate for a rear exit exhaust setup. See Pic

All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. The microwaves are designed for adaptation to the following three types of ventilation to suit your installation needs: 1. Outside Exhaust (Vertical – Delivered from factory in vertical position). 2. Outside Exhaust (Horizontal). 3. Recirculating (Non-vented ductless). We suggest viewing the Installation Guide for model JVM3160DFWW at the following link for complete details: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40675-4.PDF - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com.
