Q: QuestionI am replacing a GE Model JVM1540SM5SS over the stove microwave oven and would like the new model to exactly fit the current mounting bracket and opening. Will the GE Model JVM6175SKSS fit this mounting bracket and existing configuration?

Q: QuestionDoes this require you to reset the time and date if the power goes out? I have an older GE microwave that does a hard reset if the power goes out, requiring re-programming. I don't need a date function on my microwave... Did they fix this?

• A:Answer In the event of a power failure, the clock will need to be reset. Press Set Clock, enter the time and press Start. This model doesn't offer a date function. -Vikki@GEAppliances

• A:Answer Im sure it could be used as a countertop item. I dont recall the instructions having and specific issues. Its just designed and built with the bracketing pre installed. And then the individual installation location can dictate exhaust ventilation distribution. Being its designed for Over stove it pulls steam and vapors up theough unit and then blows them out where desired.

Please know that you will need to use the hardware and brackets that come with the new model, as they are specific. As all of our over-the-range microwaves will replace each other, we also have models JVM6175DKBB and JVM7195DKBB that are similar in size to your current microwave and would be wonderful additions to your home.

Any adjustment or repair involving the microwave door needs to be followed up by a leak test to make sure of proper fit, operation, and alignment. This must be done by a qualified technician.
