A:AnswerHello,
Thank you so much for reaching out. We're happy to answer your question. The power cord comes out of the top of the unit on the right side (facing the front of the microwave), and no additional room is needed. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us via social media or through our Contact Us page. We hope this helps. Best wishes. Mike@GEA
A:AnswerWe just replaced a similar GE microwave too. Ours was from 2015, maybe 2014. The vent fan was in the exact same place and yes you are able to change the vent to go UP or BACK.
A:AnswerHello Kelly,
Thank you for reaching out. We'll be happy to help you find a replacement model. All our over-the-range microwaves are designed to fit into a 30" cabinet opening. This makes choosing a replacement a breeze. Please note however, that you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model. One model we would recommend is JVM6175YKFS. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us via social media or through our Contact Us page. We hope this model is to your liking. Best wishes. Mike@GEA

A:AnswerHello Dan,
Thank you so much for reaching out. We're happy to answer your question. Over-the-range microwaves are not intended/or designed to be used as countertop microwaves. Improper use and installation of appliances will void the warranty. We do have countertop microwaves that can also be built in, but they do not fit the same cutout as an over-the-range microwave. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to us via social media or through our Contact Us page. We hope this helps. Best wishes. Mike@GEA

A:AnswerHi Ironapple! Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please reach out to us at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact.htm with more information about this so we can look into it for you? We look forward to hearing from you. Emily
A:AnswerVenting is up to you, and if you already have an existing vent to the outside. Most "over the range" microwaves give you the option of either venting to your existing exhaust (to the outside), or recirculating the air through the microwaves internal exhaust function. For example, I installed mine in a rental property, with no external vent. Therefore I set it up for the recirculating function.
Hope this answers your question!
A:AnswerHello AMAN - Thank you for putting your trust in GE Appliances all these years. We will be happy to help. Model JVM3160DFWW would make a great replacement for your current microwave. However, the mounting bracket is model specific and cannot be used on a different unit. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - John@GEA
A:AnswerHi Gibby! Thanks for your question. We found that this is normal. This unit has an automatic fan feature, which protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. We hope this helps! Emily
A:AnswerI would think you could put the new mounting bracket there, use anchors if needed and long enough screws to make it through the faux wall as well as the drywall behind it. You may need to get your own hardware if the screws provided with the microwave bracket aren’t long enough.

A:AnswerMine had to relocate the cover plate to force the air from the blower motor out the front, as I did not have an outside vent to hook up to either. I did not have to move the blower motor.
A:AnswerHi there - Great question! Yes, this microwave has a glass turntable. The turntable can be turned on/off using the Turntable button. Thanks for considering GE Appliances! -Mikayla@GEA
