QuestionI have a GE Model #JVM1540DP1BB 1.5 cu. ft. Spacemaker Microwave/over the range microwave oven. What is the newest model that will be compatible with this so that I do not have to change out the brackets and can just replace the microwave?

- Answer Hi Darlene - We certainly appreciate your loyalty! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. Models with similar features: GE® 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JVM3160DFBB; GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. - Answer Hi David - Yes, the microwaves have the same dimensions. When you get your new model, you will notice an extra number on the rating plate. When the model is manufactured, these extra letters/numbers are placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. These letters/numbers are used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, these are used as identifiers for the specific appliance. - Answer Hi Wendy - The over-the-range microwave ovens are designed for adaptation for the following three types of ventilation: 1. Outside Exhaust (Vertical – Delivered from factory in vertical position); 2. Outside Exhaust (Horizontal); 3. Recirculating (Non-vented ductless). - Answer Hi kreyes87 - Yes, the mounting bracket is includes with the microwave. The mounting plate is attached to the back of the microwave oven. Remove the two screws holding it to the microwave oven. The plate will be used as the rear wall template and for mounting the microwave oven to the wall. QuestionThe microwave that we have currently is 15" deep(high) Do you think this model will work? The other dimensions are fine. I think this one is 16" high.

This should not be an issue unless you have tile on the wall under the microwave. Model JVM3160RFSS is 15-3/4"H in the front and 16 1/2"H in the rear. - Answer Hi Linda - The mounting brackets are not exactly the same. When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. - Answer I believe there is a fuse. You have to take off the front of the microwave. make sure you unpause the microwave and discharged the energy from the fuse before trying to touch it. I found information on YouTube

- Answer Hi Herb - Model is JVM3160RFSS 29 7/8" wide. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. We no longer offer a 36" wide over-the-range model. If you are replacing a 36" over-the-range microwave, many current 30" over-the-range microwaves offer an optional 36" filler kit to allow it to be installed in a 36" cut-out opening. If available, the filler kit will be listed in the product specifications. This model is not compatible with a 36" filler kit. GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JVM6172SKSS is compatible with Optional 36" Side Filler Panel Kit JX36CSS (sold separately). Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue

- Answer It is 30 " wide and fit in the space perfectly. It did require tearing down the old mounting bracket and putting in the new one (which I had hoped to not have to do). We are quite happy with it.
