Q: QuestionIs there a current replacement for the GE Spacemaker XL1800? 'GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM6175BLTS is no longer at Best Buy (question from 2 years ago). Will this replacement fit into our current brackets for the XL1800?

• A:Answer Hi MarkD, thanks for reaching out! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy! - NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. We hope that this is helpful and that you're staying safe. All the best. -Michael

Q: QuestionOur GE JVM1190 Over the range microwave just died. Will this model fit into the same space? It appears that it may stick out further and drop down lower. Will I need to cut the backsplash to install it given the size of our current model? Thanks.

Please note however, that you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model. • A:Answer Hi, I was charged $139.99 for installation in Sept. 2020. My microwave doesn't vent outside, it may cost more if you have one that vents outside. My old microwave was also a GE and the exact same size so the installers used the existing brackets. I believe it you put the item in your cart and start the buying process, you will be able to see the installation prices before having to commit to the purchase. I was also $24.99 to take a way old microwave. Hope that helps!

Q: Questionour current microwave is a Spacemaker XL. about 14 inches deep. all new models are deeper. this model 15 inch. Video says 30 inches min. from stove top, but we only have about 16 now. is there a problem, assuming we have sufficient space for pots, etc.

According to the installation instructions, cabinet depth should be at max 13". a 15" cabinet depth requires additional steps and an additional kit (JX15BUMPWW/BB). The distance from the top of the stovetop to the bottom edge of the cabinet needs to be 30" minimum. If not, then this will cause issues due to the heat of the cooktop.
