Q: QuestionHi I am replacing my GE Model JVM1339WW02 and would like to if there are any other white microwaves that I could use in its place for under the cabinet mounting with top rear exhaust. ModelJVM6175DKWW was an option but the wait time is 3-4 weeks.

Q: QuestionAfter many years my GE Spacemaker XL1800 microwave has broken and I would like to replace it with another GE over the counter range that has the same dimensions and quality . Any suggestions will be very welcome.

While we regret that your microwave has now broken, we have multiple replacement options. Unfortunately, without the specific model number of your Spacemaker XL1800, we cannot determine the exact dimensions (several different model numbers were produced in the Spacemaker XL1800 series). If you can reach out to us, here or over social media, with the model number, we would be glad to review further. You can also check our GE website for our various microwave options, if you wish; dimensions will be listed on the product’s page. We have over-the-range options (which can also be installed under a cabinet without a cooking surface below, though you would need to make sure the height clearances in the Installation Instructions are still met) as well as countertop options. • A:Answer Hi there, and thanks for reaching out! The Reset Filter light illuminates when either the charcoal filter or grease filters need to be replaced or cleaned. (Once the filters have been replaced or cleaned, the alert can be reset by pushing and holding for 3 seconds.) If the vent filters are the issue, those can be cleaned and used again. We have care and cleaning details on page 20 of the manual (which can be viewed on our GE website by looking up the model number and going to the product page). The vent fan uses two metal reusable filters, which are on the bottom of the microwave. They can be removed by sliding them to the rear using the tabs, then pulling down and out. We recommend cleaning by soaking them, then swishing them through a hot water and detergent mix. If it’s the charcoal filter that needs to be replaced, details on that are on page 21 of the manual. This filter cannot be cleaned and would need to be replaced. The charcoal filter can be removed by first unplugging the microwave (for safety reasons), removing the vent grille mounting screws, tipping the grille forward and lifting it out, and removing the filter. There is a picture in the manual as well, if that might help. The charcoal filter is available under Part # WB02X35637 and can be ordered through our GE Parts website. • A:Answer Hello- We appreciate you checking with us and are happy to help! Over the range microwaves can not be install in a cabinet or on a countertop. According to Underwriters Laboratories (UL), which approves appliance installations, you cannot use an over-the-range microwave on the counter or in a shelf. Besides not being approved for this installation, these microwaves don't have feet and are also often slanted (not level) on the bottom. Additionally, if the surface lights or vent fan were to be turned on accidentally, it could cause damage to the shelf or microwave. We hope this helps! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. • A:Answer Thank you for checking. Our appliances can be repaired and an authorized service technician can provide you what is needed to make the repair or if would be more cost effective to replace. Hope this helps. The new model will be JVM6175SKSS, JVM9179SKSS or JVM6172SKSS. You will need to use the new mounting bracket for the new model microwave but will fit in the same space. • A:Answer Glad to asked us the question as the model that was suggested will not work. Please look at the following model PEM31DFWW. If you have your present model on the countertop then you will have no issues. If you have your current model hanging under a cabinet then this will work. Should you have your present model built into a cabinet using an optional built-in trim kit then you will need a new trim kit in addition to the microwave as the old trim kit is not compatible with new model.
