Well it's not as noisy as our Kenmore was. But it does make Microwave sounds, and you know when the fans on. In all fairness it's pushs quite a bit of air on the high setting. Not as noisy as Kenmore or whirlpool, can't speak towards others as I've not owned them. Might be worth a trip to a store to compare for yourself

I think it is quieter than our previous GE microwave which was about 15 years old. The fan on high is kind of loud just like the old one. On low the fan seems quieter to me. Honestly, I have never used the microwave a whole lot so even though we've had it a month, it hasn't gotten that much use. It is elegant looking and has had no fingerprint marks yet.
