“Is the air conditioner supposed to use the temperature as read at the remote to turn its compressor on or off? If so, what does it do if it can't get tge remite's signal, e.g. failsafe to an internal thermostat?”

• Hi DoktorPolidori - Thanks for considering GE! Using the remote control is not required. An electronic thermostat is used to maintain the room temperature. The compressor will cycle on and off to keep the room at the set level of comfort.
