Hi Ron- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest in our Energy Star Top-Freezer Refrigerator! While our refrigerators continue to be manufactured with as quiet an operation as possible, newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. You may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound from the new high efficiency compressor while it is operating. Also, the freezer does not have an interior light. Keep in touch!
