“Before using my GE portable dishwasher for the first time, I read where I should add 2 quarts of water to the bottom of the dishwasher to lubricate the pump seal. Nowhere online when I read about this dishwasher does it ever mention this. Is this true?”

Hi Sparky- Thanks for choosing GE! If the dishwasher is new, it may not have any water in it. This can cause a "squeal" or "rattling" sound the first time it is used. If this happens, we suggest to add one quart of water to the bottom of the tub and the noise should go away. The water lubricates the pump seals.
