• The agitator will produce left to right and up to down motions, in order to turn the water in the tub. You can view a video on how it works by checking our article titled "Top Load Washer - Description of Agitator" on our GE Appliances website.

• I'm not positive because the lid is locked at this time but it sounds like it goes up and down and might possibly turn but not spin. It does do a good job of cleaning the laundry.
