A:AnswerHi-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your interest! This hood is designed to be vented vertically through the ceiling. Use a 6" round duct. Use locally supplied elbows to vent horizontally through the rear wall. Or, a recirculation duct (included) and two charcoal filters (not included-JXCF72) are necessary for recirculation installation. Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerHello- Thanks for your interest in our 30" Convertible Range Hood. This is a really beautiful hood! The installation height should be measured from the cooking surface to the lowest part of the hood. This hood must be installed onto a wall. It can either be vented to the outdoors, or it can be installed for recirculating operation. The hood would look unfinished if you left a 4 foot space to the ceiling. We recommend getting the duct cover. It can be adjusted for ceilings between 7' 3/4" and 9' depending on the distance between the bottom of the hood and the cooktop. This pyramid style vent hood includes duct covers that are adjustable and will fit ceiling heights from 7' 3/4" - 9' depending on the distance between the bottom of the hood and the cooktop as described on Page 6 of the Installation Instructions.
