While not completely equal, when operating normally, there will be airflow through both sides. We recommend checking that the ductwork is free of obstructions, the damper swings freely, and the filters are clean. You can find filter cleaning instructions on page 7 and installation information starting on page 9 of the manual. The manual is located at the bottom of the 'Features' tab on the Best Buy product page. We also recommend performing the tissue test to check for proper draw of the vent. You can find instructions for this in the article titled "Hood Vent System Draw" on the GE Appliances website.
