Yes, if the window is more than 50” high I don’t think the adapter will extend much farther to enclose the opening.

I had a very narrow horizontally sliding window, and without the extension panels, the main "faceplate" that the vent tube clicks into was just a couple centimeters too long. With a sharp pair of plastic snips (you could use a saw appropriate for plastic), we cut it down to fit perfectly in the horizontal opening. I did need to use heavy duty Gorilla Tape to ensure that the vent tube stays firmly in the vent "plate."
