Hey there, We appreciate you reaching out. We're happy to answer your questions! The length of the power cord is 6'. This unit draws 8.5 amps when running. Appliances with compressors (ex. refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers), there is a brief surge of power when the compressor cycles on. This is called the "surge" or "start-up" amps, and is about 2x to 3x the running amps. Hope this helps! Mike@GEA
