“can I use a window 22 inches wide with this ac and if not why?”

Hi Bobby - Thanks for considering GE Model AHP12LZ! Yes, this model can be installed in a 22" wide window without using the accordion side panels (Dimensions: 14 1/2 H x 19 W x 19 13/16 D). With accordion side panels, fits windows 25" - 36 5/8" wide, minimum height 14 9/16". It will be a tight squeeze once you add the side panels. Talking from experience.
