“Is there any way to change the sound for the timer and the cook alarms? There is a setting for low, med, and hi. I would like a different sound so I can tell between the two and sometimes when I'm using the timer I have a hard time hearing that tone”

Hi Tableshoe - Thanks for choosing GE and for sharing your concern regarding the tones. In additional to volume (Lo, Med, High), the tone can be continuous (Con bEEP) or one repeating beep (bEEP). A continuous setting will continue to sound a tone until a button on the control is pressed.
