“Can I use one of the collapsible vent connections as I don't think I will have room for the semi-rigid vent connector? I don't mind paying for it but I just don't think it will fit with the drop down dryer door in my crowded laundry room.”

UL now requires that all dryers be installed with either rigid or flexible metal ducting. Rigid is preferred.
