Is internet required for use? null

They work without internet. But if you want them to work with Alexa you will need internet.

I'm not 100% sure because I do the WIFI thing but as long as you have a phone with data it may connect to the app. I know during install at one point before the WIFI I can control my lights with the app. wait for another answer or google it .

You would need to connect to a wi fi network to enable app functionality.
