It is transiently 2-3 mm wider on the left towards the very front of the unit in the process of opening the door. I solved this by mounting the entire unit a small amount forward (3/4", but 1/4" would be plenty) from flush with the surrounding cabinet frame; it works well. You could also consider shaving any adjacent structure to the left of the front of the unit, but moving the microwave forward was easier and is very cosmetically acceptable in our installation
