Q: QuestionWe have a built-in GE JE1540WW002 with trim kit. The digital display is fading. Is there a "fix"? If not, is there a way to replace the display/control panel? If not, what is a suitable replacement built-in microwave that will fit the same space?

• A:Answer Hey there, thanks for reaching out. So sorry to hear that the display on your microwave is fading and apologize for any inconvenience caused. If the microwave display is starting to only show partial characters (i.e. segments of the numbers/letters are missing), or has started to dim or fade over time, try disconnecting power to the unit for 30 seconds to reset the controls. If resetting the unit doesn't resolve the issue, we believe that model PEM31DFWW would be a great replacement. We're very glad that you checked. Q: QuestionCan this microwave be built in the upper cabinets? The GE website has is described as a counter top microwave. Can this affect the warranty? Thank you

• A:Answer Hello. That's a great question! This model is designed to be on a counter top, but it can be customized to fit under a cabinet with hanging kit JXA019K. In terms of the warranty, the following are situations that could cause your manufacturer's or limited warranty to be voided: natural disasters – flooding, lightning strikes, etc, commercial usage of a non-commercial appliance, customizing / modifying an appliance, installation done incorrectly, and the appliance being taken out of the United States. Q: QuestionMy 2014 PEM31DF1WW is 10-15/16" high, compared to the current same model's 12-1/8" high. Mine is 23-7/8" wide, current one states 24". Are your current model's dimensions rounded up, or are they exact, please? Do you install?.replace mine with yours.

Q: QuestionI need to replace a GE Profile PEM31SM1SS that is hung under a cabinet using Mounting Kit 4-A019. What is the best replacement/easiest installation within my existing set-up? Thanks!

The model you asked this question on, PEM31SFSS, does have an optional hanging kit if you’d like to install it under the cabinet. It has dimensions of 12 1/8” H x 24” W x 12 7/8” D (not exactly the same as your current model, but similar) and a 1.1 capacity. If this model seems like a good option for you, the mounting kit is under Part # WX4-A019. We have installation instructions available on our GE website when you look up the model number and go to the product page, if you’d like to review those to be sure this model will work for you. We do have other microwaves that may fit your needs as well, and they can be viewed on our GE website if you wish. We hope this information is helpful. Q: QuestionNeed to hang this GE Profile Spacemaker microwave under a cabinet as shown in advertising, not with a trim kit. I cannot find a hanging mechanism to order. Please advise

• A:Answer you do not need a hanging mechanism, you drill holes with a temp plate provided with the packaging to hang the unit. The unit itself on the top is threaded to screw it flush with the base of the cabinet. As you can see by the picture, I hung the unit and then framed it out on the bottom with piece of cabinet trim

Q: Questionthe PEM31DFBB is 24 inches wide. How wide is it with door fully open?

• A:Answer It is transiently 2-3 mm wider on the left towards the very front of the unit in the process of opening the door. I solved this by mounting the entire unit a small amount forward (3/4", but 1/4" would be plenty) from flush with the surrounding cabinet frame; it works well. You could also consider shaving any adjacent structure to the left of the front of the unit, but moving the microwave forward was easier and is very cosmetically acceptable in our installation

Q: QuestionI need to replace a GE Monogram ZEM200SF06 model. Would this be an appropriate model to fit underneath the counter? Can I use the GE Monogram trim kit or do I need a new trim kit? Thanks in advance.

The hanging kit is listed as JXA019K, and the built-in kit options are JX827SFSS or JX830SFSS. You would need to use the kits that are specific to the new microwave, as our kits are model specific; we regret any inconvenience that may cause. The dimensions of the unit differs a bit from your old model (PEM31SFSS has dimensions of 12 1/8” H x 24” W x 12 7/8” D, while ZEM200SF06 has dimensions of 11 3/16” H x 23 25/32” W x 12 9/32” D) so you may want to review your space to ensure those dimensions will work for you.
