Short answer: no, the ice maker should not go offline when you leave the house. We have the app on our phone. We use a schedule to control when it's on/off (we keep it off during our work day, but have it on in the AM & evenings). We've used the app to turn on the ice machine when we head home early, but otherwise the predefined schedule controls when the machine is on/off. We've never had our presence affect whether it's on or off.
