Hello and thank you for reaching out about this wonderful microwave. When hanging from a cabinet, there should be at least 2 inches on each side between the nearest wall or cabinet for proper air clearance. At 24" wide, this would require a space of 28" to hang. The cord is 39" long but the outlet should not be located directly behind the unit as the plug may interfere with the microwave. Keep in touch! - JB
