“The specs state the depth of the microwave is 12 7/8. If I recess the outlet, what is the shallowest cabinet I can put it in? The specs say it needs to be 16” at minimum but I don’t understand why.”

Hi MinimumCcabinetDepth - Thanks for your interest! When installed in a cabinet with trim kit, minimum 18" depth with receptacle inside cutout is 18". This is with a flush receptacle (not recessed).
