“I’ve a built-in cabinet cavity (open in front) for a microwave, dimensions are 24w 18d and 14h. Can I place this microwave in the cavity without the trim kit? Is it safe to place it in the opening without a trim kit? Is there a required clearance?”

Hi Grace - Thanks for your interest! Model PEM31SFSS is 12 1/8"H x 24"W x 12 7/8"D. If it is not installed with a trim kit, allow 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents.
