I too was concerned as you are as I had the sppacemaker II as well. But I was able to get it out of the box and plug it in and slide it into the tight space. I don’t think will have a problem at all. I thought it may be too tall as well and need to remove the cabinet doors above the microwave.. imdid remove the doors. But to my surprise, the doors still appeared functional and re-screwed the doors back on.. perfect fit.
